About our team:

Our team is responsible for addressing the scaled marketing needs of advertising customers. These customers include Amazon Ads partners, i.e., agencies and solution providers, and large brands. To serve these customers, we enable easy and fast data access, analytics and scaled campaign management. In doing so, we improve advertising customers’ ROI with Amazon Ads and reduce their cost of doing business with Amazon. Today, we offer three publicly available products: Amazon Marketing Stream, Rapid Retail Analytics, and Bulk operations. We are continuously experimenting with new startup initiatives to serve our customers’ evolving needs.

About this role:

The Principal TPM in Reporting would own technical plan and roadmap for Reporting Experiences, including Engines and APIs, along with a portfolio of cross-organizational programs aimed at removing reporting as a bottleneck for business. They will manage priorities for Reporting Experiences team of 30. Their technical proficiency and high judgement would enables them to successfully manage reporting contracts and SLAs with 40+ active 1P clients of reporting including tier-1 advertiser experiences like campaign management across all ad products offer by Amazon Ads.

This L7 TPM will own the three strategic programs below funded for 2024 to remove reporting as a bottleneck for business expansion, growth and cost.

The Principal Technical Program Manager role is critical to the success of the program. This leader will help build new scaled marketing initiatives ground up and grow the existing initiatives. They will be responsible for the product development lifecycle and will work with large teams of engineers and product managers across multiple organizations to deliver products and grow the program. The person will be directly responsible for the program’s operational health, including defining the key metrics, monitoring them and making the necessary improvements. They will own the various program level updates and communication to the executive leadership.

Candidate profile:

As the ideal candidate, you will need to be a passionate self-starter. You are responsible for evolving our internal operating mechanisms and inventing new ones to support the needs of our growing organization. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and be obsessed with driving clarity, creating structure and building mechanisms for an operationally efficient org.

Collaborating with Product and Engineering leaders, you will need to deep dive to learn and understand the scaled marketing needs of customers. You will need to understand our complex software architecture and the teams that build and maintain them.

You must be comfortable in writing structured narratives, documents and communication succinctly, leverage tooling, and establish the necessary cadence to drive execution. You must have excellent written, verbal communication and people skills.

Success in this role requires you to collaborate with senior leaders/execs across Amazon Ads and influence their priorities and roadmaps. You will need to look around corners, balance tradeoffs, and drive high judgement decisions in a principled and customer centric way.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • 5+ years of software development experience

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
