Job Description:

Risk Analyst, Credit Risk Disclosure & Analysis

Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, Credit Risk Disclosure & Analysis, the Risk Analyst is responsible for a broad array of risk reporting and analysis deliverables to aid the preparation of the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for quarterly earnings calls and various conferences. This opportunity requires direct interaction with stakeholders across the organization, a high degree of initiative, and strong relationship management, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Key accountabilities include:

  • Prepare credit risk reports, dashboards, analysis, and presentations for management review to support preparation for the quarterly earnings calls and investor/analyst meetings

  • Produce and analyze risk-related industry and public disclosures (e.g. Financial Statements, Quarterly Results Presentations, Annual Reports, Regulatory publications etc.) including analysis of key risk trends and consolidation of enterprise-wide data in a timely and accurate manner

  • Conduct internal and external research (e.g. Peer benchmarking) and summarize findings in executive level presentations and messaging

  • Become a subject matter expert in credit risk and build knowledge on various lending portfolios (both retail and non-retail) across the Bank as well as financial and regulatory reporting requirements

  • Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships across the Enterprise, including Risk Management, Finance, Investor Relations, Capital/Treasury, and the Businesses

Department Overview

As part of TD’s Risk Management group, the Credit Risk Disclosure & Analysis group produces a broad array of risk reporting and analysis. The Group is responsible for internal enterprise-wide risk reporting to support senior internal stakeholders including the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Senior Executive Team, Risk Management Leadership Team, and the Risk Committee of the Board. The Group is also responsible for external risk reporting, including preparation of certain credit risk related disclosures in TD's quarterly earnings results and reporting to our regulators. In addition, the Group produces material to aid the CRO's preparation for TD's quarterly earnings releases, analyst/investor meetings, and Board presentations.

Job Requirements

  • Analytic thinker: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify key trends/drivers and an eye for detail. Ability to think outside the box and effectively challenge the status quo, with a key eye for process improvement

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including visualization and the ability to simplify complex analyses into easily consumable key messages appropriate for Executives

  • Adaptability: Adaptable to changing priorities, ad hoc requests, ambiguity and comfortable operating both independently and in a team environment. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Organizational awareness: Strong stakeholder management capabilities, including ability to effectively interact with senior stakeholders and drive results. High level of diligence, strong organizational skills and overall maturity with the ability to leverage stakeholders to locate, analyze and synthesize complex information – both quantitative and qualitative

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of risk management, and/or credit risk that arises from different product types and financial reporting. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

The following would be considered an asset:

  • Experience using Tableau, Alteryx or other data analysis/visualization tools

  • Experience with credit risk reporting.

  • Prior experience with TD's internal credit data systems

Additional Information

  • Post-Secondary degree in a more quantitative discipline, along with a CFA/FRM/CPA or similar designation is preferred.

  • 1-2 years of analytical experience, including solid background working with data and conducting analysis.
