What You’ll Be Doing

The Senior Financial Analyst provides these services in support of the Finance and Administered line of business expenses (DOE). Responsibilities include month end close, quarter end close, management reporting, forecasting/planning, FTE reporting support, analysis and commentary. Working with business partners, the Senior Financial Analyst provides value-added financial analysis, advice, and guidance aimed at providing decision enablement to senior management. This includes highlighting potential issues/problems and recommending solutions, and process improvements. You will also ensure that financial standards and CIBC policies are implemented and adhered to in terms of integrity, consistency, and accuracy. Finance provides CIBC's businesses with financial information, analytical insight and decision support services.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Analysis - Analyze operating & financial information to support decision making. Collaborate with team members to complete financial analysis aimed at providing financial stewardship and decision enablement to senior management. Provide detailed and consolidated analysis of the operating results, identify potential issues/problems, recommending timely solutions and providing value add analysis.

  • Technical skills - Excellent Excel and Essbase skills including knowledge of CIBC financial systems (CMR/OnePlan). High degree of knowledge of financial/management accounting and reporting as well as forecasting and planning processes.

  • Accuracy - Ensure financial results are accurate and complete. Liaise with Finance Governance to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financials. Accountabilities include supporting month-end processes, processing of journal entries and compliance to standards.

  • Communication - Strong communication skills to provide advice and service to stakeholders. Meet regularly with business partners to explain financial performance, financial status, forecasts, planning and analysis. Analyze results and with full understanding of the business operations, provide a view of issues, insights and recommendations to ensure business partners have a full understanding of costs and provide advice to support continuous improvement.

  • Leadership - educate, advise and mentor business partners regarding financials and financial processes.

  • You can demonstrate experience in financial planning and reporting and CIBC’s financial processes. It’s an asset if you have solid skills in using financial tools such as Essbase-based platforms like OnePlan/CMR, Oracle Analytics Server (OAS/GLDM) and Tableau.
