About the Role

The Sr. Manager of Risk Management will be responsible for overseeing the credit risk management function of the organization. This role involves developing and implementing credit policies, managing the credit approval process, and ensuring compliance with CMHC, Investors and CBRE guidelines. This specifically will require expertise and comprehensive knowledge of CMHC’s products and policies on new and existing multi-unit projects. The incumbent will work closely with other senior management to support the company's strategic goals and maintain a high-quality loan portfolio.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive credit policies and procedures in line with CMHC, Investor and CBRE guidelines.

  • Oversee the credit approval process, ensuring timely and accurate assessment of loan applications.

  • Monitor and manage the credit risk of the loan portfolio, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with senior management to align credit risk management with the company's strategic objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Lead and mentor the credit team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on credit risk and portfolio performance to senior management.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in credit risk management.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in the multiunit lending sector.

  • In-depth knowledge of CMHC guidelines and regulations.

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
