Job Title: RF Field Engineer

Job Description

  • The RF Engineer plays an essential role in the process of understanding customer needs, translating them into requirements and formulating affordable solutions.

  • This position works closely with the customer and engineering staff to provide a solution with the best value for the customer. The RF Engineer needs to have a wide array of technical skills and be able to work independently.

  • The successful candidate will be required to coordinate multi-disciplined teams in a consolidated effort to successfully support systems for microwave measurement of various test items such as antennas and radomes for radar, communications, satellite data transfer and other applications.

Must Have Skills

  • Willing to travel 30-40% after 3-6 month training

  • Experience working in relevant industries such as Defense, Aviation/Aerospace, Space, etc.

  • Experience with test equipment: oscilloscope, network analyzer / VNA, RF power meter, spectrum analyzer

  • Strong understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) theory and principles

  • Strong background in RF systems such as radar or satellite

  • Ability to analyze diverse requirements in RF/Microwave measurements with a good understanding of mechanical systems

  • Strong analytical skills to understand complex technical systems and problem solve

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (this is a client facing role)

  • Significant experience with customer interaction and systems design and/or analysis

  • Must be able to team with many departments to develop solutions for the customer consistent with our business goals

  • Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR ยง120.15)

Additional Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with microwave antenna design and measurement

  • Hands-on experience with a variety of antenna test ranges and knowledge of mechanical positioning systems

  • Troubleshooting system level electronic systems

  • Robotics, Motion Control Systems

  • Performing bench level measurements of RF Active and Passive Components such as: LNA, Amplifiers, Couplers, Power Dividers, Limiters, Mixers, Frequency Multipliers, Diplexers, and Filters

  • Support customer test/production facilities on regularly scheduled or as-required basis

  • RF system design, specification development and interpretation, microwave communications

Work Site

  • This is a fully on-site position in Torrance, California.

  • Travel 30-40% to client sites in the greater Los Angeles area
