As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell in Torrance, CA, you'll participate in designing, testing, integrating, and maintaining high power motor controllers for aircraft pumps and fan applications. Your role involves applying principles of electrical and systems engineering and conducting hands-on troubleshooting of systems. You'll support various project phases, generate white papers for investigations and recommendations, and contribute to system upgrade activities.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $127,000.00 to $145,000.00

The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.

KEY RESPONSIBILTITIES:

  • May use engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments

  • Applies principles and techniques of electrical systems engineering to accomplish goals

  • Familiar with a variety of systems concepts, practices, and procedures such as using DOORs for flow down and allocation of requirements, and compliance matrices to document systems specifications

  • Hands-on troubleshooting of systems or motor controller functionality

Performs a variety of complicated tasks:

  • Supports electrical systems engineering functions for Electric Drive Systems department in Torrance, California

  • Functions may leverage knowledge of electrical circuit design, systems requirement traceability, systems simulation, system connectors, system interfaces, and circuit modeling simulations/analysis

  • Supports multiple related subproject phases, hands-on troubleshooting and investigation of customer returns for fielded units

  • Generates white papers to document investigations and test results/findings

YOU MUST HAVE

  • BSEE, systems engineering, control systems, computer engineering, or a similar engineering degree

  • Minimum 6 years Systems/Electrical Engineering experience with orientation towards aircraft systems design

WE VALUE

  • Experience with root cause and corrective action process

  • Ability to produce white papers to document findings, and results of trade studies

  • Experience presenting issues and solutions via PowerPoint charts

  • Experience with systems modeling tools, such as MATLAB or PSIM

  • Able to work both independently and as a part of a team

  • Knowledge of systems engineering best practices, systems integration, verification of requirements, and validation of system functionality

  • Exposure to peer reviews, team meetings, program design reviews, and phase gate activities

  • Familiarity with aircraft/aerospace testing standards, such as DO-178B/C, DO-160, DO-254
