The Role

The President & General Manager for DEWALT will drive the market leadership of our iconic $7B DEWALT brand portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer of our Tools & Outdoor division, this critical leader will set strategic long-term direction, oversee product roadmaps and E2E product lifecycles, build the marketing plan, own the brand and category P&L and drive the innovation agenda for the DEWALT brand globally.

Key Responsibilities

Set The DEWALT Market Back Growth, Product, & Brand Strategy

  • Work with staff to develop and execute a defined roadmap (i.e. product categories and verticals, product attributes, features, design requirements) required for each of the categories / segment to profitably grow market share.

  • Activate and refine the brand purpose, target segment, and end user to support overall growth, margin objectives, and long-term profitability, owning the innovation and marketing agenda for the full product portfolio.

  • Lead strategic insights & end user research to identify and prioritize key growth opportunities (across regions, product categories, and channels).

  • Establish Category Management acumen to drive growth for SBD and our retailers, bring best practices from outside industries.

  • Own innovation strategy & agenda for the full DEWALT product portfolio, ensuring user focus and NPD performance.

Own Platform Strategy, Marketing Execution, and Portfolio P&L

  • Manage DEWALT P&L drive to growth/ profitability through the allocation of resources across NPD, Quality, Cost, and Productivity.

  • Develop the platform strategy for each category across brand; build common, best in class capabilities / processes across product the enterprise (E.g., Pricing, Complexity Reduction, NPD Process).

  • Implement digital marketing, content studio, and other marketing tactics to support brand and product strategy.

Collaborate With Leaders To Execute Product Strategy & Build Robust Team

  • Leverage engineering resources, platforming technologies & outsourced partners to deliver NPD & margin optimization.

  • Support supply chain optimization, manufacturability & NPD execution (on time, within cost) with global supply chain team.

  • Support sales growth strategies with commercial teams through strong partnerships both internally and externally. Partner to deliver best in class service levels for our customers.

  • Foster strong a learning culture that is focused on speed and agility to deliver growth objectives.

  • Lead through teaching to drive change management.

Candidate Profile

General Management

  • Extensive experience managing global P&Ls for large, distinct product portfolios, establishing strategic positioning, and brokering trade-offs; drives a multi-generational platform perspective. (Ideally over $3B global brand ownership experience and 3 or more years of experience in a GM capacity of this size).

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead across different functional areas including sales, operations, product development, marketing, supply chain and corporate functions; possesses a “GM” and business ownership mindset.

Transformation & Innovation

  • Experience elevating a diverse portfolio of brands and developing a product marketing agenda into a sustainable growth engine. A deep understanding of digital and traditional marketing channels, emerging trends, and customer insights.

  • An innate understanding of technology and how to use it to provide competitive advantage that translates into building outstanding products; tapped into key tech capabilities of the kind that have made Stanley Black & Decker successful.

  • Strong background in innovation strategy and experience successfully developing new products, including creating strategic roadmaps, and establishing cadence for product lifecycle management.

Market Knowledge

  • Experience working in a complex, global, forward thinking, consumer engineered/hard goods or branded industrial products company of similar scale and complexity.

  • Ability to blend business acumen, technical understanding, and industry knowledge to convert market opportunities into executable brand portfolio strategies; demonstrates a strong understanding of the competitive and customer landscape.

  • Strong relationship builder with a collaborative approach; effective at building relationships across the ELT and all levels of the organization. Highly effective at working in a matrixed environment to influence and drive results.
