Animal Research Associate

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Animal Research Associate to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our animal research studies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and protocols, and contributing to the overall success of our scientific endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of animal research studies.

  • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of laboratory animals according to ethical and regulatory standards.

  • Perform routine assessments and observations of animals, documenting health and behavioral changes.

  • Administer medications, treatments, and dietary supplements as required by research protocols.

  • Collaborate with scientists and researchers to collect and analyze experimental data.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal care and research activities.

  • Participate in the development and refinement of experimental protocols.

  • Ensure compliance with all animal welfare policies and regulations (e.g., IACUC standards).

  • Support the training of new staff and interns on animal care procedures and protocols.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations related to experimental findings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Animal Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field (preferred).

  • Experience with animal handling and care, preferably in a research setting.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for animal research (e.g., IACUC, USDA regulations).

  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Proficiency in data entry and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specific animal models related to our research focus (e.g., rodents, larger animals).

  • Certification in Laboratory Animal Science (e.g., LAT, LATG) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with data analysis software and laboratory management systems.
