About the Role

The Sr. HR Manager and Global Compensation Specialist is a reliable, positive, and consistent person to motivate and support employees and management in accordance with the Magna Employee’s Charter and Corporate Operational Principles, internal practices, and regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for building strategies that promote a positive work environment while advancing organizational performance in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction and values. The incumbent applies their expertise to plan, implement, and maintain administrative processes, communications, procedures, while working with business leaders to enable high-performance culture. This role is responsible for leading the Troy Group Office Human Resources department to encourage and exemplify open communication, responsiveness, confidentiality, respect, and fairness with and among employees. The incumbent is responsible for optimizing and administering the Exteriors Global Compensation program, serving as the Total Rewards lead for Exteriors, engaging in Magna’s Total Rewards community and deliverables.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict adherence in timely department administration and maintenance of secure, confidential, accurate, current, and protected personal information, health and benefit information and employee files, including employment transfers in and out of the group office, access permissions and limitations, and communication/distribution of information whether electronic, verbal or printed.

  • Manage, encourage, motivate, develop and mentor local HR team members to ensure that all local HR activities and objectives are clearly understood, prioritized and team workload is balanced. Champion efforts for positive and effective employee relations and communications through adherence to the Magna Employee’s Charter and Open Door Process.

  • Lead year-end position review process and coordinate approvals.

  • Work with Executive leadership to manage Group Office staffing, performance, and employee engagement.

  • In partnership with site leadership, communicate, facilitate, coach, and track the continuous performance management process.

  • Advise managers on compensation processes to ensure internal and external market equity and to meet timely and accurate process and payroll requirements.

  • Coordinate and organize the local Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) process with Group HR leadership and Magna Corporate office. Coordinate follow-up Action Planning Meetings based on EOS outcomes. Lead development, communication and follow-through of Action Plans for improvement with a project management mindset and approach.

  • Seek and follow internal legal support and advisement on employee relations matters as appropriate.

  • Ensure timely training of new employees and recurrent refresher training needs of all employees and managers including Magna employment and development programs, legislation, ethics and compliance, etc. as required.

  • Provide effective and timely response to employee issues, inquiries and concerns relating to any employment matter, policy, practice, procedure and/or interpretation.

  • Provide impartial, confidential investigation of complaints, timely response, and follow-up of any incidents of harassment, discrimination, accidents and employment matters.

Your Key Responsiblities Continued

  • Foster successful teamwork with open communication, cooperation, support, leadership and encouragement to department managers, employees, outside vendors, and third-party service providers.

  • Ensures that the organization complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to HR.

  • Maintain local responsibility for HR systems and processes to ensure accuracy of updates, entries, calculations, maintenance, integrity, and data retrieval/reporting.

  • Lead and manage recruiting efforts and strategies, working with the leaders to define the opportunities/positions needed to hire and retain a talented and dedicated workforce.

  • Responsible for ensuring administration and compliance of immigration documentation, where applicable.

  • Manage the coordination of new employee orientations and applicable materials. Coordinate, conduct, and track resulting data on exit interviews. Share non-confidential reported trends and pertinent feedback with managers and maintain confidential feedback requests.

  • Monitor trends and industry best-practices for employment-related HR processes effectiveness, cost, and talent attraction, and competitiveness in the marketplace.

  • Responsible for key university relationships, co-operative work rotation, and internship programs to ensure a valuable experience and the development of capable future talent for the organization.

  • Facilitate the year-end merit increase and bonus process globally, working with regional stakeholders to deliver timely, effective and meaningful results.

  • Support division and group HR and leadership with compensation analysis and decisions pertaining to job descriptions, job matching / slotting, offers, etc.

  • Develop Exteriors’ compensation programs and processes to align with Magna’s compensation philosophy, contribute to market competitiveness, and drive high-performance.

Who we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, required.

• Minimum 8 years of HR generalist or multi-faceted HR assignment experience (employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, training and development, immigration, benefits, etc.).

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a leader/manager of people

• Proficient in the use of technology to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of processes or tasks (e.g. Microsoft office tools, HRIS and TMIS systems – PeopleSoft, Workday, SuccessFactors, ADP, etc.).

Your preferred qualifications

• HR Generalist experience in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing environments; automotive industry preferred.
