Guthrie Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Therapy - Full Time in Troy, Pennsylvania

This position is eligible for up to a $30,000 sign-on bonus and up to $20,000 in student loan repayment!

Position Summary: To perform respiratory therapy treatment modalities in all treatment areas including the Intensive Care Unit. To furnish assistance during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Treat and monitor all ventilator cases. Demonstrate knowledge or principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide respiratory care for patients of all age groups.

Education, License & Cert: The Respiratory Therapist must be recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or a Certified Respiratory Therapist and should possess a minimum of an A.S or an A.A. S degree.

Experience: Must possess at least one year of intensive and general care as a respiratory therapist. Will need 1‐6 months orientation for blood gas procurement and analysis, department policies and protocols, as well as, general orientation to the Troy Community Hospital.

Essential Functions: 1. Assessment, treatment, and monitoring of ventilator cases in medical/surgical areas. 2. Communication with all members of the healthcare team and patients in accordance of hospital policies and procedures. 3. Performs Respiratory Therapy (RT) protocol and assessment complaint with Respiratory Care standards of practice. Such as, but not limited to tracheostomy care, pulmonary function studies, sterile technique, CPAP/BiPAP, oxygen, ventilator set up and functions.

  1. Recognizes an emergency and initiates the proper plan of action. 5. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to meet patient care requirements (changing shifts, necessary overtime, etc.) 6. Review existing data in patient records which include admission and current respiratory care, orders, PFT values, ABG results, and respiratory therapy progress notes. 7. Perform maintenance to the blood gas analyzer. 8. Education on planned therapies and goals for patients such as COPD, home care therapies, oxygen therapy, smoking cessation, and other associated therapies. 9. Draw ABG and process them with the current equipment and programs. 10. Perform EKGs and Holter monitor set ups.

Other Duties: 1. Perform tracheostomy changes 2. Perform and evaluate pulmonary function studies 3. Determine the appropriateness of prescribed therapy of the respiratory therapy policies and procedures.
