JOB SUMMARY

Staff nurse responsibilities include providing for the emotional, medical, and physical needs of Danvilles members and improving their quality of life by observing, documenting, reporting, taking action and following-up on their health, safety, and medical needs, and implementing medical recommendations made by the team and the RN House Manager. Staff nurses provide nursing services under the direction of the Nurse House Manager and are required to stay within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Personal conduct should be professional at all times, and consistent with Danvilles culture, mission, values, philosophy, and policies and procedures.

2. Assess (RN) or note change of condition (LPN), document per state and Danville protocols, and report to the appropriate management any changes in consumers condition, including, but not limited to, signs and symptoms which may be indicative of changes in their overall health, lung sounds, vital signs, changes in pain status, and skin integrity. In case of emergency, immediately call 911 and then contact the Program Director and/or State Director.

3. Administer medication and topical treatments to members as prescribed, following Danvilles procedures and according to member\'s individual medication protocols.

4. Support members in maintaining good personal hygiene.

5. After being properly trained and passing competency, perform additional nursing responsibilities per member\'s individual needs, protocols, and Health Care Providers (HCPs) orders.

6. Ensure member\'s privacy is respected at all times.

7. Act as a resource to direct support professionals.

8.Report to work on time, and if unable to report to work, or if there is a need to come to work late, or leave early, follow Danvilles approval policy.

9. Complete required in-service and on-going training requirements within Danville and State required timeframes and meeting required competency levels.

10. Assure thorough, timely, communication with all employees regarding issues related to consumers health and quality of life.

11. As necessary, or requested, safely transport members to and from activities, work, and home, and comply with Danvilles vehicle safety, maintenance, and cell phone use policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

RN Degree (AD, BSN or MSN) or LPN from an accredited school of nursing

Minimum of 1 year nursing experience preferred

Additional Requirements

Must be able to pass a criminal background/fingerprint and central registry check

Nursing license must be valid in the State of AZ

Must have good interpersonal communication skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Basic keyboarding and computer skills

Must be highly organized

Special Skills/Training/Certifications

Must have an unencumbered nursing license

CPR, Prevention & Support, Article 9 & other training as required by Danville and the State of Arizona Division for Developmental Disabilities. Danville will provide training for Article 9, Prevention & Support and CPR if you don\'t have the certificates.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

1. Physical Requirements: Requires repetitive manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination; requires the ability to use all office equipment; and the ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics. Must be able to remain awake and alert for the duration of each shift. Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, sit, and walk for periods of time. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while assisting with the transfer of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds utilizing manual or mechanical lifting devices.
