Idaho Department of Labor Accounting Technician in Twin Falls, Idaho

We\'re on the lookout for an Accounting Technician to manage the general ledger for our Finance Department. This role includes, but is not limited to, overseeing postings, preparing reports, maintaining records and performing year-end accounting tasks. You will work under the Assistant Finance Director with a lot of independence.

A snapshot of duties is below:

  • Manage and reconcile general ledger postings from payroll, accounts payable/receivable, utilities, and other areas.
  • Review and correct daily cash register reports.
  • Reconcile all things financial: bank, investment, credit card, and online payments.

{=html} <!-- --> - Add non-interfaced postings by adjusting journal entries.

{=html} <!-- --> - Allocate and post investment interest and property taxes.

  • Compile financial and statistical reports that tell a story.

  • Stay on top of sales tax reconciliations, fuel tax reporting, and unclaimed property filings.

  • Maintain vehicle titles, registrations, and plates.

  • Develop guides that make processes smoother for everyone.

  • Your Toolkit Should Include: A solid grasp of general ledger and governmental fund accounting, skills in budget accounting and principles, experience in reconciling multiple bank and investment statements, and proficiency in Intermediate Excel and personal computer software.

    Qualifications:

    A high school diploma or GED with coursework in general accounting skills; preferably, a two-year degree in accounting or a related field; at least two years of experience in a similar position.

    Or any equivalent mix of experience and training that gives you the knowledge and abilities needed.
