Bon Homme School District 4-2 Preschool Teacher - Springfield Elementary with or without coaching in Tyndall, South Dakota
Position Description The primary function of the classroom teacher is to develop in the student the skills, knowledge, concepts, generalizations, principles, appreciations, and attitudes that will promote fullest possible development and assist students in valuing the dignity and worth of themselves and others. The teacher provides the classroom with an educational program for the students and assists in other school programs as required by District policy.
Duties
Meet and instruct assigned classes in location and at time designated
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within limits provided by District and appropriate to maturity and interests of students
Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of supervisor with program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and student abilities
Encourage students to maintain classroom behavior with reasonable rules of behavior
Use a variety of instructional techniques consistent with the limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of students to meet objectives
Implement by instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Evaluate students on a regular basis and provide progress report as required
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations
Uphold and enforce school rules, regulations, and Board policies
Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required under reasonable terms
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on required committees
Cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods
Assist in selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials
Accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities
Establish cooperative relations with others
Maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavior progress of assigned students
