Hargrove Engineers & Constructors Field Material Manager in Uncle Sam, Louisiana

What You'll Be Doing

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage all the activities necessary to enable effective end to end coordination of materials to support the project.

  • Interface with freight forwarders, supply vendors, & expediters to ensure that equipment and material deliveries meet the project constructability schedule.

  • Interface with the construction managers, area superintendents, & subcontractors to ensure material two week look ahead requirements are being met.

  • Responsible for the receiving, inspection, and material issuing of all project related material.

  • Analyze material progress reports highlighting any discrepancies to relevant parties and develop early mitigation plans for late deliveries of critical and long lead items.

  • Maintain the material management system used by the project to issue and receive material.

  • Track spare parts, surplus material, and generate the handover documentation for the client.

  • Ensure that the storage, preservation, and protection requirements of all static and rotating machinery equipment comply with vendor requirements.

  • Generate and distribute site material control status reports in accordance with project requirements.

  • Interface with the quality control team to document any damages to equipment or material and generate NCR's.

  • Manage the OS&D process and resolve any issues with supply vendors.

  • Manage and oversee the onsite subcontractor’s material team to ensure that their contractual requirements are executed on material receiving.

Ideal Background

Education: High school diploma is required for this role.

Experience: This position requires up to 10 years of relevant experience in Material Management.

  • Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex project management.

  • Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.

  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.

  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.

  • Ability to handle stress with poise.

  • Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.

  • Ability to delegate authority appropriately.

  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability.

  • Ability to set priorities.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation.

  • Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
