Provides patient care based on the principles and practices of Practical Nursing, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse that does not require the substantial specialized skill, judgment and knowledge required of professional nursing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Current unencumbered licensure with the PA Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). 2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

- Provides direct patient care, as outlined in the patient's plan of care and/or as directed by the Registered Nurse, to promote comfort and/or return to functional health for the patient.
- Provides direct patient care to all assigned patients to promote comfort & hygiene according to a timely manner.
- Performs designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
- Accurately observes, records and reports to the Registered Nurse, all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress in a timely manner.
- Assists physicians and the Registered Nurse with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
- Utilizes available supplies in a cost-effective manner to help contain patient costs.
- Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner.
- Observes the condition or change in condition of the patient, records signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status and reports findings to the Registered Nurse.
- Participates in the development of the patient's plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
- Assists in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the Registered Nurse and following the teaching plan.
- Documents nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.
- Provides patient care within a designated shift, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
- Uses standards of care and standards of practice to guide care delivery.
- Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV and oral medications as assigned.
- Accepts accountability for care provided by self and health care providers to whom care is delegated.
- Consults with the Registered Nurse to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care, as necessary.
- Obtains instruction and supervision as necessary from the Registered Nurse when implementing nursing technique or practices.

- Heavy/Hard work: Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning of patients, standing, walking, carrying or patients, materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
