JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Electrical Engineering at Penn State is seeking a qualified individual for a non-tenure-line position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor to teach a variety of resident and online undergraduate electrical engineering courses, with an emphasis on analog and digital electronics and capstone design. Some of these courses have a significant laboratory component. Additional duties may include supervising undergraduate students pursuing undergraduate research or supervising graduate students pursuing non-thesis master's degrees. Candidates must have a strong interest in undergraduate education, with a particular interest in active learning. An interest in engineering ethics is also strongly desired. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They must be able to communicate in an effective, supportive manner, and be respectful of differences in culture and learning styles, helping students with subject content according to an individual`s strengths. Candidates must also be fluent in reading, speaking and writing English and be able to evaluate student-generated technical reports. They must have excellent general computer skills and be able to quickly learn and utilize a range of software and hardware utilized in the various courses and laboratories. A graduate degree in Electrical Engineering is required by the start date (Ph.D. is preferred). Candidates will be considered for the rank commensurate with their education and experience in accordance with AC21.
