JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Career Services at University Park is seeking applicants for a full-timeCareer Counselor position.The Career Counselor/Career Services Specialist assists studentsin the development of career-life plans that include the exploration of career identity and career possibilities.

Will also typically engage in the following tasks:

Provide individual career coaching and/or counseling services to undergraduate and graduate students from all academic collegesat University Park; career meetings occur within brief (10-15 minute) drop-in sessions and inscheduled (50-60 minute) career counseling appointments, both virtual and in-person

Collaborate in the development and delivery of career education programs

Support the larger Career Services team at campus-wide outreach eventssuch as Open Houses and Career Fairs

Advise students on available University career development resources

Counsel and prepare students for internships including job searching guidance, networking support, mock interviews, and resume reviews

Develop strategies with the students to aid in reaching career goals, such as securing internships, full-time employment, or acceptance into graduate/professional school programs

Administer and interpret a broad range of career assessment instruments

Maintain documentation that tracks client progress, assessments results, and goals, ensuring confidentiality

Minimally requires 1+ yearsrelated experience, and aBachelor's Degree or higher in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education or a related discipline,or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preference will be given to applicants possessing counseling experience (ideally in a career development context) and knowledge of career development theory, with a commitment to serving students diverse in identity and in career goals, and with a demonstrated ability to work constructively within a team environment.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $51,000.00 - $74,000.00
