JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Equine Nutrition Laboratory of Dr. Burt Staniar is seeking an undergraduate student to fill a part-time research support position. Duties of this position include weighing concentrates and hay fed to horses, collecting feed samples, handling horses for data collection, and assisting graduate students in their research trials with other sample collection (fecals, blood, body condition scoring, etc.). There may also be some work in the laboratory processing samples and conducting assays. This position will require travel to horse farms throughout Pennsylvania. General care and cleaning of the lab and research areas is also expected. Individuals need to be detail-oriented, motivated, and capable of working independently.
Hours are flexible and will revolve around scheduled visits to farms. Most days will either be a day (4-6 hours) or full day (8-12 hours), but it is unlikely that there will be multiple days in a row. Experience with horses and other livestock is preferred, but not necessary. Interested individuals can contact Dr. Burt Staniar (wbs14@psu.edu) with questions.
This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
