JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Animal Science at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an Extension Associate in Dairy Science. This position is located on the University Park campus.

The successful applicant will develop a robust extension program focused on dairy enterprise management. As a member of the Penn State Dairy Extension Team, the individual will develop and deliver educational programs focused on the integrations of production and finance to assist producers' decision-making process in various areas of dairy production. This may include dairy herd records, herd analysis, production, feeding management or dairy farm financial management. The candidate will work collaboratively with other dairy faculty in the department to support teaching, applied research, extension, and outreach efforts. The candidate will be expected to develop grant proposals to secure extramural funding in key dairy areas of integrated research.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work.Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Education and Experience: Qualifications include a M.S. or higher in Animal Science, agricultural economics, or related discipline, with PhD preferred and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a strong background in dairy science. The successful candidate must have a good understanding of key areas or dairy management which could include financial management, feeding management, or dairy farm record systems. Evidence of effective teaching skills, in non-formal or formal settings is essential. Communication, creative leadership, congeniality, and the ability to work cooperatively, and the ability to work cooperatively and engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students, dairy producers and industry leaders is required. Bi-lingual skills are a plus.

The salary range f r this position, including all possible grades is: $61,800.00 - $89,600.00
