JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Turfgrass Entomology Lab within the Department of Plant Science seeks to hire part-time spring and/or summer research assistants. Research assistants will assist in all aspects of laboratory and fieldwork, including photographing and collecting insects, conducting behavioral assays, maintaining field plots on campus, and travelling to field sites across the region to collect data.

Research assistants will be required to work in the laboratory, adhere to lab protocols, and be aware of proper laboratory safety practices. Must be able to work independently or under the direction of graduate students.

The summer assistant will report to the Principal Investigator (Dr. Ben McGraw) and be supervised by the principal investigator and/or graduate student researchers.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
