JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Institute of Energy and the Environment (IEE) https://iee.psu.edu/home at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA is seeking applications for a full time Postdoctoral Scholar to work in the IEE Environmental Contaminants Analytical Laboratory, https://iee.psu.edu/labs/environmental-contaminants-analytical-laboratory.

The successful candidate will be able to work with an interdisciplinary research team focused on supporting emerging contaminants projects in agroecosystems.

Responsibilities: The Postdoctoral Scholar must be able to develop and implement analytical procedures, data analysis and interpret results; demonstrate knowledge, either through a degree or prior experience, in an agricultural-related discipline (e.g., agricultural and biological engineering, soil science, plant science, etc.). They will be expected to contribute to developing methodologies related to the fate, transport, and health impacts of emerging contaminants in agroecosystems. Therefore, experience working with relevant environmental media, such as water, soil, and/or plant tissue is necessary.

Additionally, the Postdoctoral Scholar will be expected to contribute to a scientific understanding of the human, ecosystem, and animal health implications of emerging contaminants, especially per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and therefore must have an interest in collaborating with ecotoxicologists, toxicologists, and animal scientists.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from the date of hire with a good possibility of renewal.

Education and Experience: Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctorate in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field and to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire.
