JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Office of Student Leadership and Involvement , Student Organizations seeks to hire Student Organization Consultants
10-15 h ours per w eek @ $ 12.00 per hour
Reporting to a designated staff member , the Student Org Consultant (SOC) will facilitate registered student organization mandatory officer training workshops, meet with students in peer-to-peer advisement settings related to new organization function and updates, create/market/present optional leadership development workshops, provide administrative support to the office, and support campus-wide involvement initiatives. This position requires returning to campus before classes for training, and a few potential weekends and evenings throughout the year in addition to regular office hours.
Student Organization Consultant Duties:
Facilitate Mandatory Organization Training workshops
Develop and facilitate Optional Leadership Workshops
Meet with and advise peers seeking to register new student organizations
Participate in running Fall and Spring Involvement Fairs
Maintain and promote OrgCentral to current student organizations and students looking to get involved on campus
Communicate with organizations and campus members regarding Office policies and procedures
Advise student organizations on issues of concern to them (officer transition, conflict management, constitution revision, etc.)
Coordinate scheduling of workshops, new organization meetings, 1 : 1 advising sessions
This position requires training the week before the Fall Semester begins. This position may facilitate workshops on Opening weekend, as well as occasional weeknights. This position will represent the department at Open Houses, Resource Fairs, and Involvement Fairs
Employment Requirements:
Strong interest in and commitment to student involvement and leadership.
At least one year demonstrated co-curricular involvement
Previous related experiences or skills ( e.g. public speaking, event planning, leadership or involvement on campus) in a similar position and/or transferable skills.
Ability to complete tasks with high quality and minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service and exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Capacities to work independently, assess programmatic needs, and develop creative solutions.
Team-oriented, with excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong computer literacy and demonstrated ability in office software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher).
Full- time, undergraduate students at University Park campus.
