    Position Summary:

    The mobility technician will provide activity and mobility assistance to patients in the hospital. They will be responsible for documenting in the electronic medical record and communicating with the nursing staff.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS H.S. Diploma/GED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA) within 30 days. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of CNA coursework w/in past 24 months, OR Successfull completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program, OR Worked as a CNA w/in past 24 months, OR Successful completion of at least one semester of nursing clinical experiences, OR Documented relevant medical military training

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE HCT

    Essential Functions:

  • Assisting patients to chair to eat meals.

  • Ambulate the patient to the bathroom.

  • Aid with performing self-care when up in chair or bathroom.

  • Change patient's position every 2 hours.

  • Encourage and assist with ambulating three times a day.

  • Supporting passive and active ROM.

  • Complete a checklist of duties for the patient.

  • Document in the flowsheet.

  • Report to the supervising nursing staff.

  • Follow RN driven protocol under the direction of the supervising nursing staff.

  • Patient Advocate

  • Use activity orders and clinical decision making to mobilize hospitalized patients.

  • Communicate with members of the nursing team to determine which patients are appropriate for mobilization, as well as outcomes of ambulation.

  • Participate in performance improvement measures to optimize outcomes of hospitalized patients as a result of mobilization.

  • Perform safe and appropriate mobilization techniques as per training.

  • Document patients’ activity in the EMR including tasks performed, activity, and feet ambulated.
