The Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a Senior Coordinator of Research Programs position.

Job Summary

The Senior Coordinator will work closely with Dr. Fairbairn and other lab members to manage a research laboratory in the area of substance use research.

Duties & Responsibilities

Personnel Management

Hiring, training, and managing laboratory staff.

Providing troubleshooting support when issues arise with individual projects and backup coverage to experimental team members

Supporting the development of trainees and the fostering of a positive working climate.

Managing cross-project laboratory tasks and activities including laboratory training curriculums, laboratory gatherings, and the development and maintenance of the physical laboratory space

Communication, Partnership, and Reporting

Composing reports and overseeing communications between the laboratory and regulatory agencies (Institutional Review Board Applications, National Institutes of Health reports)

Overseeing communications and supporting positive partnerships between the laboratory and vendors, agencies, recruitment partners, and academic collaborators

Oversight of financial, business, payment, payroll, and purchasing transactions, working closely with business and HR staff in the department.

New Research Directions

New study startup and pilot data collection

Setup of satellite laboratory locations

Literature searching, data cleaning, proofreading, and data analysis in support of new research directions

Other Research Tasks

Development and maintenance of an effective laboratory recruitment pipeline across studies

Development of quality-control procedures to ensure data integrity and fidelity to research protocols.

Providing oversight surrounding data quality and storage.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in psychology, health sciences, management, or a related discipline.
  • One year of full-time research and/or project management experience or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in psychology, neuroscience, management, business, communications, information science, or related disciplines
  • Two years of full-time research and/or project management experience or equivalent
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • High levels of organization
  • Ability to meet challenges with creative problem solving
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify errors and inconsistencies
  • Ability to perform complex tasks, organize and prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor others
  • Highly respected team player/learner and collaborative worker. Ability to work harmoniously with a wide range of constituencies, including faculty, staff, and students
  • Basic literature searching, analysis, and data management skills
  • Strong professionalism and judgement
  • Ability to take ownership of and develop a sense of personal investment in professional leadership role
  • Openness to longer-term career path in management and research leadership

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The budgeted salary range for the position is \$48-60,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) th experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
