NY1502801 Bus Drivers needed for Durham School Services in Utica, NY. Part-Time or Full-Time.

RATE OF PAY Starting at $23.75 per hour Additional rates with experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Reports to duty on time and performs all responsibilities in a safe manner, per company policy. Serves as a role model to students in demonstrating a positive attitude, good moral character and high level of integrity. Displays a high level of professionalism and diplomacy while dealing with students and while coming into contact with parents, school officials, and fellow employees. Provides safe and reliable transportation for students to and from school and school events, utilizing various vehicles to include vans, medium and/or large capacity school buses. Ensures safe boarding, departure, seating, movement, management and care of the students while they are being transported. Monitors the students at all times to ensure safety regulations and student conduct rules are followed. Exercises and maintains effective student behavior management through positive communication, progressive counseling and any needed disciplinary action per company policy. Utilizes vehicle equipment as trained in a safe manner, to include communication radios, wheelchair lifts, electronic devices and technical devices, as needed to perform the tasks of the job. Completes prescribed mandatory pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections to ensure proper working order of any utilized vehicle. Reports any malfunctions of vehicles per company policies and procedures. Reports any incidents upon occurrence pertinent to students on board, motor vehicle accidents, and/or equipment problems, per company policies and procedures. Completes all necessary paperwork as pertinent to routing issues, student matters, equipment problems and so on, and submits to the appropriate parties for resolution. Performs the prescribed mandatory and post-trip child checks. Attends all assigned safety and training meetings and in-service programs. Participates in mandatory exercises such as, but not limited to - defensive drives and behind the wheel reviews, to maintain DOT and NYS school bus driver requirements. Undergoes the mandatory physical exams and additional testing to maintain DOT and NYS school bus driver requirements. Cleans and performs general upkeep of the interior of the bus, promoting safety, health and well-being. Reports to work wearing proper attire and safety wear, befitting to the position. Performs other duties as pertinent and assigned.

Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age. Experience working with children is recommended, but not required. Must undergo preliminary physical exam, drug test and TB skin test, with periodic testing of the same, meeting physical and medical requirements per DOT and NYS school bus transportation standards. Must exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to relate and work well with children. Must pay a high degree of attention to detail. Must possess a considerable amount of physical acuity and dexterity to safely move around the bus, while tending to students needs.
