Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Valencia, California

Job Description:

A company in Valencia is looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for processing invoices and issuing payments. A key component of the role is maintaining communication with vendors regarding payments and discrepancies, and ensuring all financial information is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and record invoices in a timely manner.

  • Match purchase orders to invoices and enter invoices into the computer.

  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.

  • Pay vendors, schedule and prepare checks, and resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies.

  • Ensure reports are maintained and recorded according to procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Protect the confidentiality of financial information, results, trends, and costs.

  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date.

  • Maintain historical records by scanning and filing documents.

  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.

  • Assist with month-end closing processes.

  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in an Accounts Payable role.

  • Solid understanding of accounting and accounts payable principles.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, and experience with Accounting Software (eg. QuickBooks).

  • Excellent data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Detail-oriented and high level of accuracy and efficiency.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding financial information.

  • Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues effectively.

  • High School Degree required; Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred.
