POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Valley Center Police Department is soliciting highly motivated individual for the full time position
of School Resource Officer/Police Officer. Those selected to fill open positions will be assigned to the
schools during the school year upholding federal, state, and local laws. This position is responsible
for creating a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn. When school is out responsibilities
will include enforcing local, state, and federal laws, as well as investigating crimes, enforcing traffic
regulations, investigating traffic collisions, and assisting the public. Included is a generous benefits

Qualified applicants must have above-average written and verbal skills. The Valley Center Police

Requirements: State Certification is required but Officers certified outside the state may be eligible to
participate in the Reciprocity certification program. Two years or more of prior law enforcement
experience is required. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred,
with a clean criminal record, and vision correctable to 20/20. Applicant must pass a background
investigation, oral interview, and additional conditional job testing.
Certified law enforcement applicants must not have any Brady/Giglio material in their background to
be eligible for hiring.
