The Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) owns Amazon’s global inventory planning and fulfillment systems. SCOT decides what, when, who, where, and how much inventory to buy in order to meet customer needs as well as Amazon’s business goals. SCOT optimizes transportation and fulfillment plans to help our Customers get what they need, as fast as possible. Fulfillment Availability Team is part of SCOT and we own several core systems that are at the foundation of Amazon’s fulfillment pipeline and supply chain. We track inventory signals globally, in real time, and provide transactionally precise data on top of robust and asynchronous systems. We define the complex graphs, constraints, and rules that define the Amazon fulfillment network and how things move through. We enable fulfillment of anything everywhere.

You will be a part of cross-functional team of software engineers, supply chain managers and technical program managers that are agile, data driven, and highly collaborative. You will build solutions to measure impact of various fulfillment network decisions across a variety of business initiatives supported at Amazon. You will work with big data covering inventory stored across Amazon's warehouses as well as customer orders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Defining, developing and maintaining critical business and operational reports reviewed on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

  • Analysis of historical data to identify trends and support decision making, including written and verbal presentation of results and recommendations

  • Collaborating with software development teams to implement analytics systems and data structures to support large-scale data analysis and delivery of machine learning and econometric models

  • Mining and manipulating data from database tables, simulation results, and log files

  • Identifying data needs and driving data quality improvement projects

  • Understanding the broad range of Amazon’s data resources, which to use, how, and when

  • Thought leadership on data mining and analysis

About the team

Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) Fulfillment Availability (FA) team owns the authoritative services for constraining (i.e., what can happen) and controlling (i.e., what should happen) how inventory shall move in the Amazon Fulfillment Network (AFN). It ensures a consistent view of network topology across all the aspects of supply chain, such as inbound, transfer, and outbound network topology questions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience writing complex SQL queries

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

The base salary for this position ranges from $76,400/year up to $127,600/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
