Microsoft Corporation Senior Technical Project Manager- Gears of War - The Coalition in Vancouver, British Columbia

The Coalition is looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager to collaborate with our Engine and Online team to deliver best in class gaming experiences for our players while hitting quality, schedule, and business targets.

The Coalition’s Engine team is made up of the following teams; Builds, Tools, Automation, Systems, Rendering, Audio Engineering, and Machine Learning. They work as a central team and provide infrastructure, tools, workflows and features for our internal teams as well as others across Xbox.

The Coalition’s Online team builds the multiplayer and online experiences in our games, including in-game economies and commerce, session management, player statistics, user generated content, matchmaking, and game content management just to name a few.

Responsibilities

  • Working with Online and/or Engine team to coordinate efforts that span both teams to deliver operational functionality and features

  • Communicating goals to the team and motivating them to execute on time and at a high-quality level while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment

  • Creating roadmaps, milestone planning, execution, and evaluation

  • Collaborate with key partners across larger Xbox/MS organizations

  • Gather and clarify requirements from various sources and help team create a plan around Security and Compliance

  • Executing against plans by working with the leadership team to prioritize deliverables, manage risks, react quickly to challenges, report regular status, and evaluate their group against deliverable completion and quality success criteria

  • Connecting with stakeholders to identify requirements as well as keep them informed

  • Identifying processes to improve efficiency

  • Focusing on project development with an emphasis on team empowerment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in production roles in gaming, cloud services/technology or entertainment industry, or other multi-disciplinary leadership

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience in development and shipping of at least one product release.

  • 3+ years experience managing relationships with stakeholders, clients, and/or customers.

  • 1+ year of technical background or hands-on experience in software development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of technical background or hands-on experience in software development

  • Experience with a variety of project management methodologies (Scrum, Agile, Waterfall etc.).

  • Clear communication and presentation skills.

  • Effective project management leadership experience.

  • Experience working with game engines (e.g. Unreal, Unity, proprietary engines) and/or infrastructure teams (e.g. Builds, Tools, Automation, Systems, Rendering) is a plus.

  • Experience working with cloud technologies (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).

Game Producers IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $108,100 - CAD $199,700 per year.
