Lockheed Martin Maintenance Electrician in Vandenberg Air Force Base, California

Description: OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

This occupation requires the assembly, testing, functional check, systems level maintenance and repair, of plant/facility electronic systems and associated electrical and electro-mechanical equipment/systems including integration with missile launch operations, flight facility support and related products.

WORK PERFORMED

Operate and maintain plant/facility electrical power equipment. Check out, maintain, adjust, modify, troubleshoot and draw correct conclusions from limited technical data or instructions; make engineer-approved changes; isolate problems and repair or replace failed components such as grounding systems, power production and distribution systems and AGE (Aerospace Ground Equipment). Work from sketches, drawings, manufacturing specifications, blueprints, wiring diagrams, applicable state, municipal and Air Force specifications, codes and ordinances or other written and oral technical data, whether complete or incomplete. Determine routing, location and method of installing conduits and wire for power; compute wire gauge, power and load limit requirements. Construct and install AC powered systems, fixtures and accessories. Lay out, fabricate, construct, install and assemble chassis, panels and equipment enclosures for electric devices such as (but not limited to) large motors, transformer banks, welding generators, light fixtures, fuse panels and switchboards. Install and maintain station/earth ground systems, such as copper ground plates; sink ground rods; maintain ground wells; perform exothermic welds and brazing of ground connections. Perform repair and installation work such as splicing, tapping and insulating high voltage wire; troubleshoot hot circuits. Maintain electrical accessories and control devices on plant machines and equipment. Determine by inspection the electrical repair, replacement and maintenance operations necessary to maintain in efficient and safe operating condition all types of overhead crane and hoist equipment. Rebuild motors, generators, transformers and similar electrical equipment. Perform mechanical operations necessary for the installation dismantling, disassembly, repair and maintenance directly related to the above systems. May work independently or with other crafts on UPS systems, battery chargers and battery maintenance. May be required to perform routine maintenance and upkeep for the prevention of corrosion.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must possess associated licenses or certificates required by law.

• Must have ability to work at various heights on gantries, towers and poles; to work in confined areas.

• Knowledge of basic electronic theory and understanding of general principles of electricity.

• Working knowledge of electronic systems repair to component level, standard shop practice procedures, termination and testing.

• Knowledge of telecommunication and data processing equipment.

• Ability to use shop mathematics.

• Normally requires two years of technical training beyond high school plus three years of directly related experience.

• Ability to use tools and equipment necessary to perform work described herein.

• Recertification in the use of these tools and equipment is required to retain this job classification.

Desired Skills:

TYPICAL MATERIALS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Materials worked with: Including, but not limited to: lubricants, lead-tin and silver solder; epoxy; adhesives; insulating varnishes; fiberglass, plastics, compressed air and cleaning fluids.

Tools used: Standard shop hand tools, various solder and crimping tools; soldering stations and wire wrap; radio mechanics' and metal working hand tools, drill presses,

bench lathe, hand breaks and shears, spot-welders, disk grinders, power saws, conduit benders, punching machines, sanders, powder actuated tools, installation tools and

climbing equipment and tools.

Test Equipment used: Including, but not limited to: common shop meters; multi-trace oscilloscopes; standard time division reflectometers; power meters; line power recording meters; meggars; impedance bridges; environment (O2/CO2/explosive air) testers.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week

The base range for this position in California is $29.16 - $52.29.
