Compensation:

Senior Quality Control Specialist I: $87,688 - $99,091

Senior Quality Control Specialist II: $94,707 - $106,068

Senior Quality Control Specialist III: $102,280 - $112,412

Responsibilities:

This position supports the identification and execution of quality strategies within the Department of Subways (DOS) Capital Programs division (CPS) that will improve efficiency, service quality and overall maintenance performance. These initiatives are essential to achieve DOS operating needs and targets for operational success and efficiency. Under supervision, with latitude to exercise independent judgment and initiative the position conducts detailed business cases and related quality analysis, ensures that procedures are adhered to and conducts rigorous analysis, field observations, as well as necessary project management to achieve desired results. The result of the analysis enables the design and implementation of programs to optimize operational resource allocation and improve efficiency and effectiveness through adherence to proven quality practices.

Education and Experience:

  • A baccalaureate degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university and six years of satisfactory full-time paid professional experience in quality control including the application of probability and statistics; statistical quality control; experiment design; planning; basic reliability concepts; quality data collection; quality auditing; and/or systems development with quality control programs; or

  • At least 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university or technical school with specialization in engineering technology or a related field and eight years of the experience described in "1" above; or

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university or technical school with specialization in engineering technology or a related field.

    Desired Skills:

  • Applies quality techniques and procedures to analyze the success or failure of a project.

  • Provides quality related support within the Capital Programs group.

  • Assists in the review of capital projects and operational needs.

  • Assists in the development of project quality meetings.

  • Assists in the analysis of data to identify deficiencies and process improvement opportunities.

  • Conducts on-site visits to capital projects/operations to provide direct support with project quality matters.

  • Assist management/operations in the use of established quality policies and procedures.

  • Propose quality process improvements to CPS management.

  • Provide project specific quality-related support to CPS management personnel.

  • Review and audit procedures and back-end utilization to ensure effective approach to achieve quality objectives.

  • Excellent oral and written communication.

  • Highly organized, process and detail oriented.

    Selection Method:

    Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

    All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
