Rincon Consultants Environmental Assistant Project Manager – Natural Resources in Ventura, California
Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a flexible and proactive Environmental Assistant Project Manager with a Natural Resources background, and strong project and task management skills. This role includes overseeing multidisciplinary technical assignments to ensure timely project completion and budget adherence through scheduling, progress monitoring, issue resolution, and fostering effective team communication. Responsibilities also include client coordination, oversight of regulatory permitting and natural resource tasks, and managing project deliverables related to renewable energy projects. Ideal candidates will have a biology education and/or background, project management experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and a positive attitude. Environmental consulting experience and familiarity with CEQA/NEPA processes is a plus.
While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Please note, this position is listed for the City of Ventura but is also available at all the locations stated in this job description.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate with subject matter experts across disciplines to ensure timely project completion and adherence to budget, including scheduling project tasks and completion of deliverables, while fostering effective team communication, often for multiple concurrent projects
Identify and implement solutions that streamline processes and enhance efficiency across the program. Troubleshoot issues that arise during the project lifecycle
Ensure clear and consistent communication with clients regarding project status and requirements
Track and manage environmental compliance and regulatory requirements during various project phases
Oversee and work with biologists to obtain, summarize, and analyze biological data for inclusion in deliverables
Support research for renewable energy, electric transmission, and energy generation facilities projects
Assist in the management and preparation of environmental documents and studies in support of regulations required under CEQA and NEPA, and permitting under ESA, CESA, and jurisdictional waters regulations
Contribute to the clean energy future of California
This Job Might Be for You If You Have the Following:
Minimum B.A./B.S. in biology or related field
Minimum of 4 years consulting experience and 2 years of relevant project management experience
A practical understanding of CEQA and/or NEPA, as well as knowledge of other federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations is highly preferred
Highly motivated with excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented, resourceful, strong time management skills
Self-starter willing to tackle a variety of tasks simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written skills and well-developed soft skills
Strong research and analytical skills
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

The base salary range for this full-time position is $72,000-$114,000 plus a generous benefits program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
