BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Team Leader at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate the activities of the team members including the assignment of tasks and production objectives

  • Train new members (safety rules in the operation of equipment, cleaning of the station and 5S, assembly and inspection processes)

  • Training of all team leader and employees of the teams for each product up to the level of certification following the operator certification process

  • Respond to production orders in line with the smoothing/levelling fulfillment rate

  • Facilitate continuous improvement within the team and provide support in implementing improvements, focusing on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and motivation

  • Actively participate in problem solving (8D, 6M, 5 Whys related to safety and quality issues)

  • Conduct daily meetings with team members and facilitate communication between shifts with a focus on product performance indicators (OEE, Through-Puts, FTT, PPM's, customer incidents/alerts, scrap, breakdowns, TRIR, accidents/ security incidents)

  • Support and implement production tools (Visual support, JIT, 5S, Kanban)

  • Responsible process control, using tools in use: Preventive Maintenance, Poka-yoke Control, Startup Checklist, LPA

  • Lead, motivate and support the development of team members

  • Provide initial support for operators' personal issues (management of absences, vacations, personal problems, etc.)

  • Lead and actively participate in the collection of data/information necessary for production/engineering

  • Ensure adherence to control plans by conducting daily audits

  • Manufacture parts, meeting quality and productivity standards

  • Actively participate in the development and validation phase of the process of the new programs, specifically on the full cadence production day (run@rate) and in the production part approval process (PPAP - Production Part Approval Process)

  • Establish continuous improvement plans that lead to a more efficient organization

  • Facilitate efficient and open communication within the department and with other departments in the organization

  • Ensure and respect the compliance with safety and cleanliness rules of the workstation

  • Continuously ensure the improvement of health, safety and environmental conditions

  • Participate in the definition, implementation and maintenance of the organization's policies

  • Participate in the definition of objectives of the Environmental Management Policy, Health and Safety at Work

  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management Policy, Health and Safety at Work

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety at work standards, policies and practices in accordance with their level of responsibility

  • Develop a culture characterized by good professional ethics and involvement in the process among employees in all areas

  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, practice and working period

  • Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which they were hired, when the needs or convenience of service so warrant, for the period of time necessary for the aforementioned needs or convenience of service

Education & Experience

  • Secondary Education, preferably with technical-professional training, or a degree in engineering or a related field

  • Previous experience in a similar role will be valued

  • Problem Solving (5W; Ishikawa; PDCA; 8D) (preferred)

  • Knowledge of quality tools

  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards

  • Computer knowledge from the user's perspective

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools (preferred)

  • Knowledge in the context of in-line production in the automotive industry (valued)

  • Conflict Management

  • Quality decision

  • Results Oriented

  • Fluent in Portuguese

  • Fluent in English
