Description

The Machine builder will be responsible for participating in building, debugging, qualifying, and installing world class automation machinery. This includes working with the PMD manufacturing and design team, as well as the customer design team. The goal is to produce state of the art equipment for industries ranging from consumer goods, medical equipment producers, government suppliers, automotive suppliers, and more.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Works with mechanical assembly blueprints, including Solidworks models, to assemble mechanical mechanisms.

  • Works with the engineering team to ensure all documentation, including drawings, are updated using the PMD provided documentation tools.

  • Examines fabricated and purchased components for fit, form and function when assembling.

  • Can operate all standard toolroom machinery (Mill, Lathe, Surface Grinder, etc.) proficiently so that they are able to make alterations to machine details as required.

  • Assembles fabricated and purchased components quickly and accurately.

  • Can use 3D modeling software to analyze machine structure and layout to aid in assembling projects in a quick, logical manner.

  • Qualifies all motions for alignment, tolerance, repeatability, and function based on design specifications.

  • Works with both the control and mechanical engineering teams to debug projects to the quoted customer specifications.

  • Required to travel.

  • Maintains a clean work area.

  • Observe safety procedures including but not limited to wearing proper hearing and vision protection and safety footwear.

  • Other duties as necessary when requested by management within Federal and State regulations for the position.

    Position Requirements

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education And/Or Experience: High School degree or GED with either 5 years’ work experience as a Machinist and/or Tool Maker. Assembly experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Mechanical aptitude is a must.

Language Skills: Effective verbal/written communication. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures. Skilled at blueprint reading and GD &T.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts of basic math: add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and trigonometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Wide variety of duties requiring considerable judgment to work independently such as devising new methods, adapting or changing standard procedures to meet new conditions, and making decisions guided by precedent and within established policies.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Solidworks Viewer products a plus.

Pay Range $28.00 - $38.00/hr
