Our client, Steel Fabricator is seeking a Rolling Mill Shift Supervisor to join their team. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be part of the Rolling Mill supporting Engineering & Production The ideal candidate will have Production, Supervisory, and Rolling Mill experience which will align successfully in the organization.

Rolling Mill Shift Supervisor

Overview

The Rolling Mill Shift Supervisor is responsible for optimizing production efficiency and minimizing costs within the rolling mill operation. Under the direction of the Rolling Mill General Supervisor, this role oversees a team of employees engaged in the conversion of steel billets into concrete reinforcing bars or similar products.

Responsibilities

  • Production Optimization: Drive production to meet or exceed established schedules while minimizing costs.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the work of the shift team, assigning tasks based on operational requirements and employee skills.

  • Shift Management: Ensure adequate staffing, materials, supplies, tools, and equipment are available for efficient operations.

  • Communication: Effectively communicate with preceding and succeeding shift supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other departments to ensure seamless operations and address production challenges.

  • Quality Control: Monitor product quality to meet ASTM specifications and identify potential issues for timely resolution.

  • Problem Solving: Collaborate with maintenance to diagnose equipment breakdowns and implement solutions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall mill performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of practical experience in steel mill rolling and finishing operations.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing methods, heavy mill machinery, and metal properties.

  • Strong understanding of ASTM specifications for bar mill products.

  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
