As a Senior Savoury Flavourist in Vienna, you will be responsible for flavour development projects, in order to ensure an effective and successful creation process in cooperation with customers, according to business objectives. You will be part of a successful international team working across European countries and beyond, which has grown successfully over the past few years. Based in the most livable city in the world.

Your key responsibilities

Flavour Creation & Evaluation

• Create new savoury flavours or modify existing flavours to meet project requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development for selected flavour types

• Execute daily tasks and fully manage assigned projects and provide flavours which meet all defined project needs, considering when relevant good manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, production requirements, regulatory compliance, etc.

• Collaborate with portfolio, application and CI teams to address tonality gaps, and proactively create innovative flavors

• Contribute to the Improvement of our creation Palette partnering with our Innovation, compliance and procurement teams

Knowledge Sharing & Expertise

• Mentor young flavorists and ensure knowledge sharing within and outside of Europe

• Contribute and share in the Global Creation community in dsm-firmenich to ensure global connection and personal development on topics

• Participate and learn about all areas of the company (analytical chemistry, sensory, consumer understanding, regulatory, flavour delivery, manufacturing, etc.)

• Contribute as technical expert and advisor to internal and external partners for ingredient and flavour performance

• When required lead as a technical expert to resolve flavour production issues and customer complaints

    You bring

  • Polytechnic or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Flavourist in Savory Flavour Creation

  • Flavourist Trainee experience covering the various aspects of Savory flavour creation

  • Skills in utilizing a range of Savory tools and ingredients such as Top notes, Reaction keys, oleoresins and extracts to create cost effective high impact Savoury flavours

  • Experience in Savoury Top note creation and sensory understanding of the molecular palette.

  • Expert level tasting skills.

  • Experience of interacting with customers to effectively discuss project and creation needs for multiple applications

  • Project management skills with the ability to successfully support large development projects

  • Intermediate-level knowledge of local and regional regulatory requirements for Flavours

  • Intermediate knowledge of application equipment, ingredients, and manufacturing procedures for the production of snack products.

  • Expert-level knowledge of flavour manufacturing equipment and processes
