Actalent Assistant Plant Manager in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Job Summary:

The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for the execution and daily oversight of manufacturing within their plant. This position works hand in hand with the plant manager to ensure schedules are met and efficiencies remain high. This position solves real time problems and is expected to implement/recommend changes that prevent like problems from happening again.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Demonstrate critical thinking; Looks at the entire picture, can understand and appreciate varying perspectives, identifies root causes, formulates and suggests sustainable solutions.

· Mentor and train supervisors. Successful in supporting and empowering a team.

· Observe, analyze, and make decisions regarding the efficient allocation of resources with respect to material, manpower and profitability.

· Evaluate existing standards, process and procedures to facilitate and improve overall efficiency and profitability of the manufacturing operations.

· Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships.

· Ability to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously.

· Ability to consistently deliver a set of products that follow industry and best practices.

· Ability to prioritize, organize effectively, make decisions, and solve problems while working under pressure.

· Demonstrate shared values and leadership style consistent with values; dedicated to innovation, strong business ethics, diversity, quality, and customer focused service.

Job Specifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5-10 years Manufacturing and management experience required. High School Diploma or GED

  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • “job shop” manufacturing experience, meaning high variability and low volume of repeat work.

  •  This type of manufacturing requires intense attention to detail and an ability to execute on short timelines.
