As the Customer Application Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the technical activities during the offer preparation phase to provide EPC and EEP estimates for utility, industrial and power generation substations.

  • Be responsible to define technical solutions for AIS and GIS HV substations, both greenfield and brownfield extensions.

  • Analyze customer specifications and related documentation provided during the bidding processes.

  • Provide the complete scope definition for an EPC and EEP substation offer, be responsible to deliver bill of quantities and technical specifications for equipment, services and systems.

  • Develop the single line diagrams, digital architectures and layouts on the offer phase.

  • Guarantee the compliance to the customer requirements and specifications as well as to the applicable local and international codes, regulations and standards (UPME, IEC, ANSI, IEEE, etc.).

  • Ensure the alignment of technical interfaces for equipment, protection & control and telecommunication systems and others subcontractors' scopes for civil works and erection, design and commissioning.

  • Elaborate technical proposals, detailing scope of supply, assumptions and others relevant information to customers.

  • Support the commercial team during customer presentations of technical capabilities and proposals.

  • Drive technical negotiations with customers/consultants during tendering phase.

  • Perform basic calculations for BoQ estimation for grounding system, steel structures, LV & MV cables BoQ, CT/PT adequacy checks, auxiliary services equipment sizing, etc.

  • Support sourcing department during offer negotiations and new suppliers development.

  • Perform the risks and opportunities analysis for the bidding process.

  • Lead the technical transference from ITO (Inquiry to Order) to OTR (Order to Remittance) teams of the won projects.

  • Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Automation & Control Engineering.

  • Prior experience in high voltage substation projects.

  • Knowledge of high voltage products, substation engineering design and services.

  • Ability to design using AutoCad tool.

  • Familiarity with international and local regulations and standards for substations (IEEE, IEC, ANSI, ABNT, UPME).

  • Strong team‐working abilities, good communication skills, written and oral.

  • Fluent Spanish proficiency.

  • Advanced English proficiency.

  • Ability and willingness to travel, both domestically and internationally for meetings, site visits and trainings.

  • Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience in application engineering for HV substations.

  • Strong understanding of high voltage power transformers, shunt reactors, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers and medium voltage systems.

  • Construction, field testing and commissioning experience.

  • Knowledge of solar, wind and thermal generation projects.

  • Good understanding of the High Voltage Systems business environment and commercial awareness.

  • Knowledge of substation protection and control schemes, SCADA communication systems, factory and site testing.

  • Multi-team leadership experience.
