Boeing Distribution Services Inc. Lead Material Handler (INT) in Germany

Position Summary:

The Warehouse is responsible for the dispatch, receipt and management of goods within the organization. Its primary objectives are timeliness, efficiency and cost effectiveness. This position may be engaged to supervise work in a number of key areas within the Warehouse team. In addition to the regular duties assigned to this role, the Team Leader will be required to oversee staff within their work area to ensure they are performing their duties in accordance within company standards and policy. Additional hours may be required to be worked from time to time, and in consultation with the Warehouse Manager. Oversees resolution of incoming/outgoing shipment discrepancies. Escalates critical issues to the appropriate level and engages with the correct stakeholders. Leads coordination and confirmation of receipt/shipping documentation for internal/external customers. Serves as point of contact for priority incoming/outgoing shipments. Monitors shipping/receiving discrepancies. Develops solutions to mitigate errors.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support day to day operations of distribution center

  • Complete relevant documentation as required, maintain an accurate record keeping system, and prepare all relevant reports and data as required by management

  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient work processes and procedures complying with the system requirements

  • Ensure team members follow and are trained in safe work practices & Safety checks on all equipment.

  • Coach and develop team

  • Other tasks deemed suitable based on knowledge and experience as required by the Warehouse Manager.

  • Facility maintenance, liaising with contractors.

  • Purchasing documentation.

  • Ensure sufficient packaging and shipping materials and other operation required items inclusive of stationary is available

  • Places parts in proper location after identifying and verifying part numbers

  • Uses a utility cart, identifies cartons by part number, uses a computer or laptop, cart, cycle counts product, hand scanner and PC.

  • Picking and filling orders using a laptop computer or hand scanner. Print and batch pick tickets and prepare warehouse pull and return.

  • Schedule, track and monitor both inbound and outbound shipments to ensure proper routing and storing of goods. Assist other departments as necessary in the research of transport and delivery inquiries

  • Assist P&E and Sales to identify suitable shipping method when necessary.

  • Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements and the timely delivery of all products.

  • Participate and/or lead key projects to support continuous improvement philosophy

  • Matches paperwork to box and prepares orders for billing / shipping

  • Performs system approval such as but not limited to system passcode for order & inventory processing

  • Manage Key Performance Indicator (KPI) assigned

    When and if required

  • Lift and carry cartons weighing up to 35 lbs and manage cartons in exceeds of 35 lbs utilizing available safety tools

  • Load and offload material to/from delivery truck, sort, reconcile, enter information into ERP system and prepare for counting process

  • Complete export documentation and shipping manifests, including documentation required for the transport of dangerous goods. Assure orders are prepared properly to follow through on quality initiatives and to avoid safety or regulatory issues.

  • Demonstrate general knowledge of governmental trade compliance and environmental regulations as they apply to the storage, handling and transportation of dangerous goods.

  • Operate warehouse forklift or picker truck to pull and return parts from inventory (if applicable)

  • Operate company delivery vehicle for movement of materials between buildings and/or customer deliveries (if applicable)

  • Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Degree certificate or Equivalent

  • 4-6 years of related work experience, warehouse experienced preferred

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience

  • Ability to lift and carry cartons weighing up to 35 lbs.

  • Ability to manage cartons in excess of 35 lbs. utilizing available safety tools.

  • Ability to fluently, read, write and speak English.

  • Experience in operating material handling equipment

  • Basic Computer Knowledge

  • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Ability to stand and walk on cement floors for long periods of time throughout the workday.

  • Must be detailed oriented, efficient, and able to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.

  • Able to work in a cross functional team environment.

  • Experience in international shipping and distribution

  • Knowledge of transportation, shipping laws and procedures.

  • A highly motivated individual with the ability to work without direct supervision, and analyses and problem solve in a high volume work environment

  • Ability to make quick decisions within defined span of control

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Accountable for work performed and sets a positive example to other members of the team

  • Customer focused and ensures that all orders and enquires are responded to a high standard and within established standards and guidelines

  • Sound communication skills, with experience dealing with both internal and external customers.
