Gitlab Senior Product Designer, Vulnerability Management in France

Senior Product Designer, Vulnerability Management

Remote

GitLab is an open core software company that develops the most comprehensive AI-powered DevSecOps Platform (https://about.gitlab.com/solutions/devops-platform) , used by more than 100,000 organizations. Our mission (https://about.gitlab.com/company/mission) is to enable everyone to contribute to and co-create the software that powers our world. When everyone can contribute, consumers become contributors, significantly accelerating the rate of human progress. This mission is integral to our culture, influencing how we hire, build products, and lead our industry. We make this possible at GitLab by running our operations (https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/using-gitlab-at-gitlab) on our product and staying aligned with our values (https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/values) . Learn more about Life at GitLab (https://vimeo.com/gitlab/gettoknowgitlab) .

As a Senior Product Designer on our Posture Management team, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping a unified platform that empowers organizations to assess their risk and remediate existing vulnerabilities. You’ll design holistic experiences that span the entire Vulnerability Management landscape, ensuring that our solutions are not just effective, but also seamless and intuitive.

In this role, you’ll navigate the unique challenges of a nimble, cross-functional team where security workflows often overlap. Your ability to stay attuned to what others are working on and understand how different areas interconnect will be crucial. This collaborative approach ensures that we cover the entirety of our users’ workflows in a cohesive manner.

Your work will have a direct impact on our customers by providing them with a one-stop platform for all things DevSecOps. Recognizing that many companies face resource constraints in hiring enough security application engineers, you’ll design software that helps those teams lower security threat risk and empowers their product development teams to shift left—enabling them to proactively address security challenges on their own.

You’ll collaborate closely with security experts, engineers, and other designers within the Secure and Govern team. If you’re passionate about creating impactful designs in the security space and are familiar with Vulnerability Management platform/ASPM concepts, we’d love to have you on board.

  • Efficiently define security rules and enforcements

  • Setup and manage security analyzers

  • Remediate application security risk while keeping an up-to-date, comprehensive view of their application's SBOM.

  • Collaborate with teams to build an all-in-one Vulnerability Management platform.

  • Help guide the strategy and direction with a focus on our user's goals and needs through JTBD/ODI framework.

  • Develop hypotheses and establish clear success metrics to test new features or product changes and determine their impact on UX and business outcomes.

  • Undertake usability testing to validate your thinking (we have an excellent team of UX Researchers who can offer guidance as needed).

  • Contribute to our Design System, alongside the rest of the UX team and GitLab community as a whole.

What you'll bring

  • Must have demonstrated experience designing Application Security Posture Management (ASPM) tools or designing AST (SAST, DAST, IAST SCA), Vulnerability Management, Cloud Security, CSPM, CWPP, Application Security, SIEM, SBOM, and Supply Chain Security.

  • Familiarity with designing holistic, complete workflows, and larger design visions or North Star Vision Designs.

  • Domain knowledge or background in DevSecOps and the security "Shift Left" movement.

  • Experience fostering collaboration across multiple product teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience conducting your own research.

  • Strong visual design skills with the ability to balance leveraging the design system and recognizing when a unique component is needed.

We start with understanding our user, their goals, and needs and extrapolating that into a problem to solve, and then always consider what the best experience for the user would be.
