Job Summary

Responsible for accurate and timely IT Asset Management (ITAM) enabling key corporate priorities by controlling costs, enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating security & financial risks.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Maintains a detailed inventory of software and hardware assets and applies the information gathered in making decisions about IT-related purchases and redistribution.

  • Follows processes, policies, standards, systems, and measurements that help the organization to effectively manage daily and long-term IT asset portfolio (software and technology-related hardware) with regard to cost, control, risk, compliance, business performance objectives, and IT Governance.

  • Updates systems and records of information such as licenses, service agreements, and warranties for software and hardware.

  • Analyzes spend optimization, ensures compliance, and accelerates procurement cycles.

  • Maintains accurate inventories and performs regular reconciliations of what is owned, what is installed, and what is recorded in the system of record. Ensures records are managed through the collection of key attributes.

  • Assists with changes to hardware/software assets in accordance with the IT Change Management and/or other authoritative processes.

  • Ensures proper management of budget, and financial approval for all new software and renewals.

Nature and Scope

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.

  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.

  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, management information systems, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Three to Five years of experience in asset management with exposure to financial management of assets.
