Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am-5.30 pm (40 hours per week)

By ensuring that the aircraft is fully used, DHL Aviation is able to create an expanding Network of routes able to meet its customers changing requirements. From Track&Trace right through to proof of delivery (POD), every shipment receives the same high level of secure management.


The UK Customs Department is the largest of its kind in Europe. Split between the UK and offshore, the Customs team handle over 4 million shipments annually that require a formal customs declaration. The Customs department at East Midlands Airport is made up of six main departments: Imports, Premier Customs Clearance (PCC), Exports, Exceptions, Quality, and Compliance.


The Role

An apprenticeship at DHL Aviation (UK) Ltd will allow you to gain valuable work experience with the world’s leading postal and logistics Group, Deutsche Post DHL.


As a Customs Apprentice at DHL Aviation (UK) Ltd. you will study towards a level 2 Diploma in Customer Service via Loughborough College and also gain transferable skills through hands on work experience,.  


This exciting opportunity is ideal for an enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for excellent customer service. This 18 month programme will expose you to the full range of customs duties, imports, exports and exceptions. This role requires a high level of attention to detail as all shipments must be handled in line with HMRC guidelines.

5 GCSE’s (grade 4 or above – A - C equivalent) including English and Maths
