POSITION SUMMARY

This position of the Technical Accounting Manager serves as an internal consultant with various functions and businesses regarding complex US GAAP accounting matters. The role supports accounting and reporting considerations of on-going and new transactions and initiatives, requires frequent interaction within controllership, wider finance team and leaders at various levels within the company. Additionally, this position is responsible for monitoring emerging and implementing new US GAAP and statutory accounting guidance, as well as providing internal education on new guidance that may impact the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an internal expert, consultant and resource regarding complex US GAAP accounting topics for unique, new or non-standard transactions

  • Interact with wider finance team, business and function leaders on matters impacting accounting, financial reporting and controllership

  • Monitor, assess and lead implementation of new accounting guidance and communicate potential changes and implications to various finance and non-finance stakeholders

  • Document accounting policies and methodologies; maintain and update the company’s accounting policies for new guidance or policy changes

  • Preparation of technical accounting memos for complex transactions documenting key judgements and positions taken

  • Review draft contracts, other legal and non-legal documents, including those in M&A transactions, and provide feedback for accounting implications.

  • Assess current practices and procedures related to technical accounting practices, and make recommendations for improvements as well as to provide inputs for presentation and disclosures to group financial statements

  • Interact with auditors in relation to all technical accounting matters

  • Lead reviews of complex accounting areas including business combinations, impairments of goodwill, intangible assets and other long-lived assets, stock-based compensation, pension, debt and derivatives

  • Support ad-hoc projects and analysis including legal entity reorganizations within the group

  • Provide technical accounting training to wider finance teams and able to articulate in simple English with all levels within the organization on technical accounting topics

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting

  • ACA and/or CPA

  • At least 5-8 years of experience serving in a technical role – in public accounting practice and/or industry (multinational and large companies)

  • Strong US GAAP technical accounting and financial reporting skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Self-starter with proactive approach to problem identification and remediation solutions

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret accounting literature to support technical accounting conclusions

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of management

  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Blackline and Visual Lease preferred

  • Familiarity with IFRS and UK GAAP preferred
