Western Carolina University Accounting Technician III - #000015 in United States

Position Summary:

The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

This position supervises a team of Accounts Payable (AP) clerks and manages vendor relations. The primary responsibilities include ensuring timely payments of all University invoices in accordance with state and university regulations, as well as adhering to Accounts Payable Department procedures.

Key duties include:

  • Monitoring and resolving suspended or incomplete documents in Banner Finance.

  • Ensuring compliance and issuing 1099 forms in accordance with IRS and North Carolina Department of Revenue regulations.

  • Determining and tracking proper withholding on payments to independent contractors, and reporting this information to the NC Department of Revenue.

  • Performing complex data collection and reconciliation processes.

  • Resolving invoice and payment issues with vendors.

This role is essential for maintaining the accuracy and compliance of the University’s financial transactions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship from the employer.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting; or Associate’s degree in business administration or accounting and one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those with an accounting degree and experience in Banner and CataMart.
