Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - Controls/Automation Engineer

Under the direction of the Director, AME – Global Automation, this position is responsible for supporting the execution of the global manufacturing strategy and deployments for all manufacturing locations. The position will be focused in support of manufacturing automations, process digitization, electronic test support, and process standardization. Deliver best in class performance through the implementation of standard work and leveraging best practices in different areas such as maintenance and new product development/introduction while ensuring the core manufacturing processes and company assets are effectively utilized. This position implements and supports actions that bring about improvements which may include, but are not limited to safety, customer value proposition, quality, delivery, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.

What You Will Do:

  • Working with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles.

  • Executes and supports global manufacturing strategy while leveraging the Allegion Operating System to ensure adherence to assessments and playbooks (location, capacity, utilization).

  • Lead projects of varying size and complexity that aligns with the global manufacturing strategy – focus will include automation, EOL testing, and digitization.

  • Ability to lead / support initiatives focused on manufacturing footprint optimization resulting from core / non-core evaluations across various business units.

  • Supports global leverage of core manufacturing process group by ensuring effective facility / product / process transitions & processes are in place.

  • Collaborate with various support functions in the identification and implementation of automation / EOL testing / digitization projects that align with the manufacturing strategy (Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, Product Engineering).

  • Lead / support large capital investment initiatives within operations, including the identification, evaluation, and business case justification of new technologies.

  • Partner with various functions during the NPD process to ensure adequate levels of manufacturability on product designs.

  • Ability to influence peers, and indirect reports to accomplish goals with multiple business priorities globally.

  • Support AME – Global Automation and Business Unit in implementing automation that aligns with the specific manufacturing strategy and transformation plan.

  • Support, develop and implement manufacturing automation solutions that align with our transformation plan.

  • Identify opportunities that will allow the business to maximize margins by becoming less labor dependent while driving flexibility and adaptability into our workflows.

  • Ability to identify, evaluate and implement new technology.

  • Partner with product engineering and management to ensure adequate levels of design for automation with new and existing product designs.

  • Support AME – Global Automation and Business Unit in implementing EOL testing capabilities across our manufacturing sites.

  • Support, develop and implement Electronic Test platforms that align with our transformation plan.

  • Partner with support teams to implement new product introductions to ensure adequate levels of functionality.

  • Support AME – Global Automation and Business Unit in implementing digital solutions to enable connectivity across the business that empower our Industry 4.0 transformation.

  • Develop systems that empower our people to make decisions by having the right information at the right time.

  • Ability to connect assets and develop dashboards to continue driving towards a common metric of OEE across all manufacturing sites.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, lead/coach problem solving principles across diverse workforces and cultures.

  • Partner with manufacturing facilities to enable them to run more efficiently by utilizing the data from connected assets and workflows.

  • Above average acumen of various operating systems that drive the business including the architecture behind them.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestic and global.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant AME experience with a focus in Electro-Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, machine Controls or Automation.

  • Experience with distribution, warehousing and/or logistics facilities a plus.

  • You would ideally have some level of understanding of MES and ERP systems.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with various audiences at the site level.

  • Strong interpersonal and high-performance team building skills, with ability to develop collaborative relationships, influencing up, down and across organizational lines.

  • Ability to effectively facilitate a group’s activities and discussions using a defined process.

  • Must be viewed credibly as either an informal leader or a positive influencer of change.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced and changing work environment.

  • Able to influence, persuade, convince, and facilitate change in a global environment with varying acceptance.

  • Knowledge of personal computer applications required (Excel, Word, Visio, and PP). Excellent Team Facilitation Skills.

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Salary Range: $103,100 - $182,200. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
