Job Description

The Assistant Director of Dining Services and the Bookstore maintains responsibility for the overall operation of both University Dining Services and the University Bookstore inclusive of retail spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary liaison between dining services, retail operations, and bookstore providers.

  • Serves as an administrator for campus dining dollars software system.

  • Participates in construction conceptualization and planning meetings, as necessary and relevant.

  • Spearheads and organizes feedback sessions related to these areas for continuous improvement.

  • Develops new programs and services in conjunction with campus partners to meet campus needs.

  • Ensures that services and activities comply with University, State, and Federal regulations.

  • Administers the budget and oversees the fiscal operations of each area.

  • Assists with communications and public relations for each area.

  • Assists with the establishment of the direction, goals, agendas, implementation strategies, and policies related to these areas.

  • Develops short and long-range goals, strategic plans, and data collection and assessment to ensure the continuance of services and facilities in these areas.

  • Assesses each area’s needs related to space, equipment, and technology.

  • Chairs and/or serves on various University, division, and area specific committees and represents departments within state and national organizations.

  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards and trends.

  • May require work after 5:00pm and/or on weekends.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, or Hospitality.

  • Six years of related experience in management commercially or institutionally.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Five years of progressively responsible administration experience to include three years of management experience.

  • Two plus years of food service operation experience.

  • Two plus years retail management experience.

  • Previous budget management experience.
