A.T. Still University of Health Sciences (http://atsu.edu) is a learning-centered university that prepares highly competent professionals through innovative academic programs. This Instructional Designer (ID) position will work collaboratively as a Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) (https://tlc.atsu.edu/) team member to design, develop, and integrate innovative instructional techniques and technologies into the University’s education curriculum.

Job Responsibilities

Working as part of a team responsible for providing University-wide faculty development opportunities, the primary duties of this position are to concurrently:

  • Collaborate with the TLC team to create and facilitate custom faculty development opportunities, such as:-Virtual and in-person interactive presentations and workshops.-Self-help resources, including video tutorials, job aids, and other self-paced instructional materials.-Foundational classes in course design, educational technology, and educational research methodology.

  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging instructional trends with potential value for healthcare education.

  • Consult, coach, and mentor faculty and staff on implementing emerging instructional techniques and technologies.

  • Expand the adoption of best educational practices to contribute to a positive, learning-centric culture and develop a teaching and research community.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or other related disciplines.

  • Experience in higher education teaching in face-to-face, online, or hybrid environments.

  • Strong passion for contributing to Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Justice initiatives.

  • Energetic about creating and delivering compelling synchronous and asynchronous training opportunities for University-wide audiences of educators, administrators, and staff using Google Slides, Zoom, and other presentation software and technology for engagement.

  • Expertise in writing and proofreading instructional materials for specific audiences using Google Docs, including collaboratively preparing reports, manuals, and guides.

  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, while working in a collaborative team environment

  • Comfortable using Google Apps such as Gmail, Calendar, Chat, and video conferencing tools such as Zoom.

  • Experience working with the Canvas learning management system (LMS), lecture-capturing software such as Echo360, and other interactive educational technologies.

  • Occasionally travel to attend and facilitate TLC training, ensuring effective delivery of educational programs and workshops.

  • Enthusiastic to learn about educational research, program evaluation, or other types of scholarly activities such as literature reviews, research design, data collection, and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience consulting with healthcare professionals working to identify fast-changing priorities and goals.

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools is highly preferred.

  • Interest in developing self-paced instruction using Articulate Storyline or comparable e-learning tools.

  • Track record of conducting educational research, program evaluation, or other scholarly activities such as literature reviews, research design, data collection, data analysis, and data visualization.

Compensation Information

This position is eligible for a full benefits package with a base salary of $56,000 to $64,000 annually, dependent on education and experience levels. ATSU is a qualified Public Service Loan Forgiveness (https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service) employer. ATSU conducts background checks for applicants considered for employment.
