Business Development Manager – Higher Education (West Region)

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven individual to join our team as a Higher Education Business Development Specialist with a focus on credential sales. This position will be responsible for developing and expanding our business in the higher education sector by promoting and selling our access control, hardware, and credential solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, business development, and a deep understanding of the higher education industry, specifically security and credential management. They will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth through the sales of Allegion credentials and hardware.

What You Will Do:

  • Identify and prospect for new business opportunities within the higher education industry for credential and hardware sales.

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to penetrate and expand our presence in the higher education market for credentials and hardware.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, such as university administrators, security leaders, facility managers, credential services, One Card office, and housing administrators, to promote and sell the full Allegion portfolio.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of higher education institutions and align with their security, access control, and credential requirements.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential areas for growth in the Higher-Ed market.

  • Work closely with the One Card PACS to align on strategy and account objectives.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry news, advancements, and best practices in higher education security and ID Management.

  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to potential clients, effectively articulating the value proposition of Allegion and our partners.

  • Meet and exceed sales targets and revenue goals within the higher education sector for credential and access control sales.

  • Provide regular reports on sales activities, pipeline status, and market trends related to the Higher-Ed Vertical Market to the management team.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred

  • Minimum 5 years in sales and/or business development role preferred.

  • Proven track record in business development and sales, preferably within the higher education industry, with a focus on access control systems integration, and credential sales.

  • Strong understanding of the higher education landscape, including trends, challenges, and opportunities related to security system implementation.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in higher education institutions.

  • Self-motivated and target-oriented, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret market data related to credential sales.

  • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools.

  • Willingness to travel as needed. (50%)

  • Candidate must live within the Western Region of the US near a large metro airport.

Compensation : This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Salary Range: $110-170,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

  • Bonus Eligible: Yes
