Summary These positions serve as Contact Representative in a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) office Information Access Center, located in Klamath Falls and Medford, OR. The incumbent is responsible for the dissemination of factual information to the public on the BLM's multiple resource management program and services. Responsibilities The position has the following roles and responsibilities: Primary contact for the dissemination of information to the public. Provides written and oral information to the public regarding Bureau of land Management (BLM) programs and ands. Works closely with United States Forest Service (USFS) public contact representative. Determines which inquiries can be handled personally or must be referred to others. Provides a positive link between the District and public. Collections: issues/sells special forest product permits, maps, etc.as needed and reconciles cash account, inputs transactions into federal Collections and Billings System (CBS). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying. A. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sector) performing 3 or more of the following: (1) abstracting information from various legal documents to determine lease and land status; (2) preparing letters, memos, reports, information materials, or other references for public and/or management use; (3) providing information or assistance on matters related to public lands; (4) performing general office clerical work (e.g., travel, time and attendance, mail collection and distribution, answering and routing phone calls, etc.) for an organization. Status merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". A review of your resume and supporting documentation will be made and compared against your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire to determine if you are qualified for this job. Additional Information Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally. You must be eligible to obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Physical Demands: The work involves sitting and standing, typically in a public room environment. Moderate lifting of plats and public information documents may be required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office building that requires normal safety precaution. Telework: The Bureau of Land Management has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
