Typically, all positions will begin being paid at the beginning of pay range listed above.
Incumbents are responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of assigned facilities, which may include cleaning and sanitizing facilities; maintaining and operating equipment; monitoring and ordering for supply inventories; laundering clothing and fabric items; and setting up/tearing down for events.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives direction from higher-level supervisory and management staff in assigned department.
Typical Class Essential Duties
Provides quality custodial services at assigned facilities which includes: maintaining floors, cleaning and disinfecting windows, sinks, counters and other surfaces, shower areas, toilets, water fountains, and other fixtures; disinfecting and emptying trash receptacles, dusting furniture, walls, machines, or equipment, replenishing paper supplies, towels, and soap; and performing other related activities.
Assists supervisor in establishing facility cleaning/maintenance tasks and frequencies to ensure adequate cleanliness and work efficiency; maintain appropriate documentation and records for the custodial maintenance services at the assigned facility.
May participate in setting up and tearing down areas for special events to include tables, chairs and pipes/drapes in meeting rooms and other designated areas.
Performs routine operation, maintenance, and cleaning of custodial equipment and hand tools including buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, extractors, pressure washers, brooms, mops, squeegees, and leaf blowers.
Monitors supply inventories and orders standard supplies as needed. Assists supervisor with the maintenance of OSHA compliant records of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning products/chemicals used in custodial maintenance.
May participate in routine inspection of facility safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, and eye washes, to ensure they are maintained and ready for use; notify lead person/supervisor of deficiencies with safety equipment.
Runs business related errands to various city locations, including purchasing supplies and the disposal of recyclables and hazardous waste.
Locks and unlocks assigned facilities; turns off lights and secures buildings when facilities are not in use.
Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information about the facility or event.
Changes burned out light bulbs within the facilities; informs lead person/supervisor of other lighting, plumbing, heating/cooling, or maintenance problems that occur on shift.
May participate in outdoor seasonal activities such as snow removal from City buildings and facilities and cleaning fountains or other decorative structures; raise and lower facility flags as directed.
Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Knowledge of:
• Basic cleaning methods, equipment, and supplies preferred.
• Basic safety and security practices preferred.

• Work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.

• Safely operate and handle motorized equipment including vacuums, scrubbers, leaf blowers, and snow blowers, as well as various hand tools and supplies.

• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Operate in a courteous, knowledgeable and tactful manner with facility guests, staff and general public.

Training, Experience & Certifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• No previous training or experience required.
• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to work shifts after 10:00 p.m. or overtime.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Possession of a valid Wyoming Driver’s License preferred.

Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the position's driving requirements. If the employee has not held a Wyoming driver's license for the last three years, the employee must provide at their own initiation and expense a driving record from their previous state(s) of residence.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
City of Casper employees that perform safety sensitive tasks are subject to pre-employment and/or random drug testing. These tasks include, but may not be limited to:
• Emergency response/rescue
• Handling or working with hazardous materials, including chemicals as well as solid and liquid waste
• Operating or maintaining water and wastewater systems (delete?)
• Maintaining City computer and data systems including networks, servers, communication systems, etc.
• Driving for the City of Casper, whether essential or non-essential
• Operating power-driven machinery or equipment
• Handling confidential information, including personnel, health, financial, or attorney-client information
• Working with or around children
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Includes long periods of standing or walking.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects.
Incumbents in this position work indoors and outdoors, regardless of weather conditions. Employees may be subject to dusts, odors, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, vibration and repetitive motion, loud noise, and working at heights. Common personal protective equipment includes gloves, hearing protectors, safety goggles or other eye protection, and chemical or moisture resistant footwear. Incumbents may be required to drive to off-site locations to complete work tasks.
MINOR LABOR RESTRICTIONS (17 Years of age)
• Maximum hours of work on a school day and non-school day: 8 hours
• Maximum hours of work during a school week and non-school week: 40 hours
• Work hours: 5:00am to 10:00pm on a school night
• Extended to 12:00am on non-school nights
• May operate weed eaters, leaf blowers, and the like, but no other power-driven equipment or tools
• May operate ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc. on City grounds ONLY (may not go on public roadways)
• Must meet WARM driving criteria in order to operate ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc. on City grounds
• Eligible to drive vehicles (cars or light-duty trucks) on public roadways with the following restrictions:
• Driving is limited to daylight hours
• Cannot have more than three (3) passengers
• Cannot drive more than 33% of the scheduled workday or 20% of the scheduled workweek
• Cannot operate a vehicle over 6,000 pounds
• Cannot tow vehicles OR trailers
